This class targets the core. We first ignite your muscles with an intense standing series consisting of sun-salutations, warriors and balancing poses. It then goes to the floor for core! Here, your core will be blazing with a series of poses specifically designed to melt any fat away. Then, you will smolder in some flexibility poses. This series encompasses four different styles of breathing to assist in stroking the internal flame. It ends with you lying in a puddle of your sweat. The room is heated to 100F-105F. You are required to bring two towels to practice in this class.
As you can tell by the title this class flows like the sweat from your forehead. We first submerge your body in sun-salutations. You will feel like a surfer as you catch the waves of mini-flows through balancing poses and warriors. This series will have you diving into your mat for flexibility and some core. This series encompasses four different styles of breathing to assist in maintaining your buoyancy. It ends with you floating down a calm and peaceful stream. The room is heated to 100F-105F. You are required to bring two towels to practice in this class.
Hot Yin and Hot Yang
What is “Hot Yin and Hot Yang Yoga”? We’ll start with the hot yang aspect. Yang yoga is about rhythm and repetition. It is what you are used to in our “Hot Core” and “Hot Flow” classes. It is the sun salutations, the warriors and the chairs. It is the balancing poses and all our flows. It is about muscle. It develops strength and creates flexibility, it burns fat and builds endurance.
Now for the Hot Yin. Yin yoga is about compression and time. It is about strengthening and stretching the joints, specifically the ligaments, the bones and all the fascia around them. This style of yin yoga works the area of the body from the knees to the heart. It will target the lower back (lumbar and sacral area), the pelvic girdle, the hip joints and the knees.
Our “Hot Yin and Hot Yang” class will start out between 100-102 degrees Farhenheit for the yang part and will be in the mid 90’s for the yin aspect.
This practice is not for the weak at heart. It will start off as furious as a phoenix rising and will end as slow as a turtle. This practice is good for people that have to sit for long periods of time (underused tissues deteriorate) all the way to the advanced athletes. In fact, most athletes retire due to joint issues, not muscle issues. This practice will assist in keeping your muscles and your joints strong and flexible.
This style of yin is based on the teachings of Paul Grilley. The Yoga Energy Studio has been studying his work since 2002.
This series brings in part of our fitness background. Hot Fit starts with an intense warm-up consisting of sun-salutations and warriors. It then switches to movement style training using medicine balls, bands and dumbbells. You then finish on the floor with a bit of core, flexibility poses, detoxifying breath-work and final relaxation that allows you to absorb all the benefits of your yogic workout. This series combines the time proven benefits of hot yoga with the science based benefits of modern day fitness. Our “Hot Fit” class starts out around 102 degrees Fahrenheit for the first half of the class and then gets down to the mid 90’s. Please, bring a towel and your own mat.
Dynamic Restorative / Yin
This class is like a vintage glass of red wine. It is bold at the beginning with an earthy flavor to your body. Each pose will make you feel rich, bold and satisfied. The flavors of this class will awaken the palate of your soul. The class ends with a smooth finish that will please all crowds. And just like after a glass of red wine, you will feel warm, relaxed and satisfied. The room temperature is between 80F to 84F. Please, bring a towel.
“Small Group Training”
Strength & Movement Basic
Tim has been released from the cage of traditional strength training. This 30 minute course will focus on muscle confusion, and simultaneous movement of multiple muscle groups. Your body will not be able to understand how it became so strong with little to no weights.
Strength & Movement Advanced
After you have finished the “Basic” it is time to move on to constant movement. No breaks, no stopping, no resting for 30 minutes. Almost every movement you do will consist of multiple muscle groups being worked. Lunging presses, squatting rows, and one-legged military presses are just a tiny taste of what will happen to you. This training will stand above all other.
“Private Training – Yoga/Strength”
We will customize a series of poses that will fit your individual needs. We specialize in Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, and Integrative Yoga Therapy. Here are a few examples of the many cases we have worked with: Lupus, parkinson’s, alzheimer’s, ataxia, cancer, heart and respiratory conditions, knee and hip replacements.
This is not your typical strength training. We do a half hour strength training session because we have designed this program to do in half hour what most programs cannot do in over an hour. The style of training performed here creates strength, flexibility and endurance, all in one setting. This is not a body-building series. If you are looking for Strength and overall Well Being, this is your place.
