Whether you are new to stand up paddling or have been paddling for years, this style of training brings a whole new aspect to the sport.

You will be doing fitness training on the sand, in the water and on your board.

yoga energy's ospreyThe best way to meditate is while you are on the water, that's why we have combined the practice of meditation with stand up paddling.

Yoga Energy is the first (again :-) ) in the next wave towards peace of mind and enjoyment of life with a meditation class like no other.

Water in and of itself brings a meditative feeling. This class will assist you to find focus quicker, still your mind faster and feel your body playing all while enjoying the water. You may even get to see some of our enlightened friends, the dolphins, the manatees, the stingrays, the birds and the fish.

Some people say that you have to sit quietly in a room, under a tree, or even in a cave in order to meditate. We say that meditation can be performed anywhere.

In fact, according to the medical dictionary, meditation is "a practice of concentrated focus upon a sound, object, visualization, the breath, movement, or attention itself in order to increase awareness of the present moment, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance personal and spiritual growth."

Therefore, we do not have to be sitting still or being quiet to meditate. Anything that we enjoy doing and give our full attention to can be a form of meditation.

In this class you will learn and use mantras, practice breathwork and learn to paddle all at the same time, while experiencing what we like to call the "ananda factor" on the water. For more on the ananda factor, please, read the The Yin and Yang of Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Become one of the first Yoga Alliance Certified Teachers of this amazing combination. Assist people in experiencing the beauty of water while receiving the tremendous benefits of yoga and the incredible challenge of stand up paddling.

In this course you will learn everything you need to know in order teach a fun, safe and exciting Stand Up Paddle/Yoga class, from type of gear needed to meditation.

We will cover:

1. How to properly paddle board and how to properly teach paddle boarding.
2. Anatomy of Yoga with respect to Paddle Boarding.
3. Proper gear required.
4. Proper selection of equipment.
5. Pros and cons of different styles of boards.
6. Poses appropriate for the board.
7. Properly sequencing poses.
8. Breath-work on the board.
9. Meditation on the board.
10. Safety Precautions and Risk Management.
11. Marketing/Business of "SUP & Yoga".
12. Ayurveda for Stand Up Paddling and the "Live Blue" Philosophy.

After successful completion of this course you will also have the opportunity to become a "Stand Up Paddle Affiliate" of the Yoga Energy Studio which entitles you to discounted board rentals, advertising, use of equipment and more.

Prerequisites:
Must have current CPR certification.
Must be able to swim.

All paddle boards and gear will be supplied.

You must bring:
Towels, sunscreen, five finger water shoes or similar style, shorts/pants for practicing yoga that can get wet, rashguard, sunglasses with strap and hat or headgear.

Limited to 10 people.
